Darryl Barnes, MD is a distinguished healthcare professional and entrepreneur with over 25 years of expertise in orthopedics, sports medicine, and medical device innovation. As the CTO and co-founder of Sonex Health, he spearheads a team of engineers, designers, and clinicians dedicated to developing smart medical devices that enhance the lives of individuals with common orthopedic conditions.

Driven by the principle of “refined simplicity,” Dr. Barnes is committed to advancing healthcare technology. His notable innovations include the UltraGuideCTR and UltraGuideTFR, minimally invasive devices for carpal tunnel and trigger finger release. He also played a pivotal role in creating the TX System by Tenex Health, one of the first ultrasound-guided minimally invasive surgical devices, now used both in the United States and internationally. Additionally, he is the creator of UltraGuideCo-Pilot, a cutting-edge learning management system (LMS) designed specifically for healthcare professionals.

In addition to his entrepreneurial achievements, Dr. Barnes is an active speaker, author, and patent holder in the fields of sports medicine and hand surgery. He earned his MD from the University of Utah School of Medicine, completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic, and pursued a fellowship in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He also holds business and technology certificates from Cornell University and The Wharton School.
